Phantomgate

ntomgate is a JRPG with a turn-based combat system where you play Astrid, a daring young Valkyrie who must try to save her mother from the clutches of the mad god Odin. Along the way she'll discover her hidden powers and make friends with hundreds of spirits. In Phantomgate you can travel between worlds exploring the legendary land of Midgard from a 2D lateral perspective. During the exploration phases you can move freely around the settings, jumping and even flying from one side to the other. You can also solve some simple puzzles and interact with other people. During the battles you retain the 2D perspective, but with a very well-executed depth effect. In each turn you can pick which enemy you want to attack and what kind of attack you want to do. You have to keep in mind, of course, that some kinds of attack are more effective against specific enemies. One of Phantomgate's strengths is that you can recruit more than 300 different spirits to fight alongside you. Similar to how it works in the Shin Megami Tensei saga, you can add spirits of all kinds to your group of characters. Phantomgate is a terrific JRPG that stands out in all respects. Graphically the game is a real marvel, with spectacular artistic designs that has nothing to envy the biggest names in the genre, with an interesting and original enough story to keep you hooked for a good number of hours.
